Grilled Swordfish with Cilantro & Lime Butter

This citrusy butter boldens the mildly sweet swordfish and softens the meaty texture. Pair the meal with some fresh, grilled tomatoes.

Grilled Swordfish and Tomatoes with Cilantro Butter

It's time to get the grill going! Summertime is meant to be spent outdoors with fresh food. This is a great recipe to use if you want to focus on spending your time with company, because you can make the butter ahead of time (it keeps for a week in the fridge), and just throw the swordfish and tomatoes on the grill for a wow meal in 10 minutes.

Zabb-E-Lee Cooking School’s Pad Thai Noodles

My mom and I had so many belly laughs at this school that we got a workout! If you’re traveling to Chiang Mai and are looking for a light hearted cooking lesson, I definitely recommend going to Zabb-E-Lee. It’s built into the chef’s home and you instantly feel like you’re a part of the family.

First the chef’s sister picked us up from the hotel and took us to the market for a lesson in Thai grocery shopping.

Baipai Thai Cooking School’s Glass Noodle Salad with Shrimp

This was by far my favorite recipe from the Thailand adventure I took with my mom. It has each of the four major tastes of Thai cooking: sweet, sour, spice, and salt.

My mom was worried whenever we were learning to do something with oil (note, you don't need oil for this recipe though!):

Hoggin at Monument Beach

A monument Beach heads up: it's crawling with other hoggers! You might need to go pretty far south down the beach to get many.

We were lucky to get enough to feast on clams casinos and the winning stuffies later that night.

Winning the Hogoff at Quahog Republic

Against all odds, far from the cornfields of the midwest, meandtheclams.com won a quahog stuffie contest in Cape Cod. I think I peaked.

The Honey Hole of Agawam Beach

On Black Friday, I woke up and took a stroll to the local Harbor Master to check the current shellfishing map. This is basically a shack on a pier with a colored-pencil drawing of the surrounding waters with details on what kind of fishing is legal in different areas. The only open clamming bed close-by was on Agawam Beach, a beach I've never visited. Although I didn't know where the good clamming spots were at that location, my friends visiting from Chicago and I were determined to get some quahogs. And by gad, we got em. We putzed around looking pretty legit without getting anything for a long hour or more:
